So, yeah. Today was spent, for me at least, mostly in bed. It's been wonderful having a full weekend with the kids, even though I am too under the weather to really spend quality time with them.
The kids went to Gina's house early this morning and spent 99% of the day there. I went for a little while, but ended up coming home to sleep.
Last night when the kids came over we had a nice little time. Of course, Christopher came with dirty socks and underwear. As usual, when we first get the kids we have them take baths so that they can at least be clean, but this time when Christopher started to take his shower J noticed some bruises. He called me in to look at them and sure enough, there are two rather ugly looking bruises on Christopher's butt.
Christopher says that he was laying on the bed and James Lewis stepped on him. Well, if you look at the bruises they are about the size that a big toe and the next toe over would make. So, without even bathing Kayla, we took them to the Safety Dept. to get that documented. Officer Ballinger was there and investigated it. While I was in the hall waiting with Kayla I noticed she had some small ugly bruises on her right arm. She says she got them when James Lewis threw her on the bed, but there's no way of knowing for sure. We didn't report those being as we were already there for Christopher and when the officer asked if we'd looked at Kayla yet we said we hadn't.
Kayla still tends to make up stories about how she gets hurt. I think it's from listening to her mom make up stories about it. Her mother always lies about what happens, thus showing Kayla how to do it.
Christopher told us that James Lewis asked his mom if she'd marry him and she said yes. Apparently James Lewis got her this big fake diamond on a gold plated band. Kinda funny, considering the circumstances. They're 2 months behind on rent, he hasn't worked in two weeks, and she's only pulling about 80 bucks home a week after taxes. .... So we know he didn't get her a real diamond.
I don't know what Heather's (the ex-wife) trying to prove by marrying James Lewis, but whatever it is, she's failing. The only thing she is proving on a consistent basis is her neglect for the kids. Christopher has a nasty cold (still) that's leaving him very congested and hacking up crap every time he coughs. He also has some red bumps all over his body that we think might either stem from not getting bathed or from flea bites from his 2 cats and 1 dog at his mother's house.
Either way, his mother should be taking care of it.
She isn't.
What we're planning on doing is taking some vitamins, elderberry juice, and some cough medicine to school for Christopher until his mother decides she can take him to the Dr. again. I don't know what's going on with him, and, unfortunately, Dr's offices aren't open on the weekends.
Who knows, though. Maybe Heather will get her head out of her ass and actually care for her child enough to take him to the doctor... instead of blowing her money on James Lewis for a change.
