On January 1 when I went out walking I was staring at the sky, thinking of how pretty it was and how clearly I could see the stars even though I was on a main drag here in town when I saw a bright streak of orange like a shooting star cross the night sky. It was much larger than a shooting star, though, and bright orange like starting at a fire for too long and letting your eyes unfocus... the fire becomes a blur or orange and blue. That's what I saw in the sky that night. It had a really nice 'tail' that flared pretty far and trailed behind quite a bit further than a normal shooting star has. It wasn't just a tail of light, but looked more like a tail of stuff following behind it.
It honestly looked like what I'd imagine a meteor coming into the atmosphere would look like, and when I first saw it I thought it was part of a meteor shower I had heard might possibly happen.
It wasn't until today when I was on the phone with E did I find out it was actually a Russian rocket breaking apart as it came into the atmosphere. You can read the story here, in the GJ news.
On a side note, E is really good about keeping me up on the news... especially now that I don't have a TV.
Anyway, I've always been interested in space and the deep ocean so it was really cool to find out what it was that I saw.
Onto other things, I suppose.
Things are going really well with E. Most of the time we just BS when we talk, but sometimes we have some really serious conversations. It's nice to have that in a guy I'm seeing... most guys I've been dating have just wanted to date on a surface level, without really getting to know me on a deeper level. They seem to have only one thing on their mind, certainly not a lasting relationship. ... Now he just has to get back from Greeley and things should most smoothly. He should be back here Feb 9th.
I plan on holding him to his promise of sweeping me off my feet...
Sara is doing better. Her ear mites seem to be clearing up and her ichy skin is no more. Even her paws are looking better. She's fitting in really well, even though Bear is still fighting her for his 'place' in the 'authority line-up'. He acts like he's afraid I'll love her more than I love him, which is silly. Poor Bear hasn't had the greatest life before someone at work found him and gave him to G, so he will always be 'puppy-fied' but I'm happy with him the way he is. I just wish there was some way to reason with him about the whole 'love' issue. I would never give him up for someone/something else.
Life is good here lately.
